Design and make a unique, colourful and pattern filled fabric wall hanging for your home!
Are you an artist who want to branch out into product making with your beautiful art? Do you love colour, patterns and getting crafty? If so we have the workshop for you. In the first in a series of creative ‘hands on’ workshops we will create a fabric wall hanging from your own collaged illustrations and walk away with finished product.
You will learn how to:
- Create an original artwork using collaging techniques
- Convert your work into digital format
- Adjust colours and sizes
- Set up your artwork in the correct dimension for digital printing
- Make your own wall hanging easy way
This is great opportunity to learn new hands on crafty skills but also how to translate your hand made art into a product through digital manipulation and preparation.
Our Teacher
This work shop will be conducted by our dear creative friend Katy Dee, artist and designer behind the textile & print based label Shiztastic. Katy creates fun playful textiles such as scarves, accessories and home wares using her hand drawn designs and collages then turning them into digital illustrations and prints. Katy will guide you through the workshop sharing her unique knowledge and experience.
How the day will go
We will spend the first part of the workshop painting, creating colourful paper elements. Next, we’ll use these elements to make an A3 sized collaged illustration that will be printed in-house onto fabric and assembled into a wall hanging.
Get back to basics, find your inner child who loves to get messy and have some fun! Katy will walk you through her collage creative process using handpainted by you paper, coloured and textured paper to create unique collaged artworks.
We will then go through the digitisation of the collage, and learn the basics of turning original artwork into a file that’s ready for digital printing.
After all has been prepared, our team will swiftly print your collages on heavy duty canvas for you to craft a beautiful wall hanging to take it home.
All art materials are provided including paper, paint and supplies needed to create your artwork and final product. There will also be an accompanying worksheet that will include ideas and inspiration. You will be encouraged to create something unique, learn new techniques along the way, and hopefully make some new friends!

What you need to bring
Laptop with Adobe Photoshop installed, mouse and charger to work through digital part of this workshop.
Your best creative self and an open mind.
Be happy to get a bit messy – We will be painting as well as collaging.
Dress in clothes that you are happy to get paint on!
No need to have any previous textile design experience – this is a step by step workshop.
