Hello there everyone! I am beyond excited to be part of the designer project!! Can’t wait to tell you about my collection but first a little bit about my self! I’m Amanda and I run Bloma Studios! I live on the Sunshine Coast, Australia but I am originally for cold Sweden (no wonder I ended up moving to the “Sunshine” Coast hehe) I work as a freelance pattern designer and I love making fun and colorful patterns inspired by the 60s and mixing it with modern elements.
I knew straight away when digital fabrics reached out to be a part of the designer project that I wanted to make a super fun retro collection using primary colourways mixed with modern elements! So first thing I did was to go on pinterest and make a moodboard and colour palette for my collection!
Once I did my moodboard and I had a clear design direction and vision for my collection it was time to start drawing! I start of all my patterns by drawing them using pen and paper and then I bring them into Adobe illustrator to work on them in there!
After making all the drawings I bring them into illustrator and that’s when they all come to life! I like working in one single document for my collections which could look a bit messy but this way I can see all the patterns together and play around with colourways and composition of each pattern while having an overview of them all together!
Then I picked out my favourite two colourways of each pattern and put them together in a document to showcase my collection Retro Memories!
My favourite pattern of this whole collection is called “sixties memories” and I think you can see why! This has been such a fun project and I can’t wait to see what you create with these designs! If you want to ask
me any questions or would just like to say hello you can find me at @blomastudios on Instagram!
Much Love, Amanda from Bloma Studios.
